If, a good two weeks into 2026, you feel like you’ve missed the New Year, New You train — you haven’t.
The trains will keep on coming this year. (Here are some of them.)
If you’re ready to jump on now, though, there’s one arriving at your station on Sunday, January 18th, at 19:51 UTC (at 28°43’ in your birth chart, so look that up to see which area of your life it’s affecting most) — called the Capricorn New Moon.
It’s not the most magical of the New Moons. Actually, the Moon doesn’t like being in Capricorn — they have a completely different vibe.
In Capricorn, she’s forced to give up her natural feminine intuition for masculine order and practicality. Not her jam.
But, as every New Moon, it’s a beginning of a new Lunar Cycle…
And, unusually for a New Moon, also a big ending.
Not just of the previous Lunar Cycle. Of a whole era.
So let’s look at what’s ending— so you’ll know what to begin.
With Capricorn’s practical, grounded, systematic energy, this New Moon is the time for you to set up the systems and structures and that will hold the New You through the New Year, and help you feel safe and grounded when the world around you is falling apart.
It’s a chance for you to set the foundation of what you want to build in the long-term, giving your wishes tangible form.
Also, this is probably the last opportunity we’ll get to do something in such a practical, straightforward way in who knows how long… The next couple of years at least.
As I say this, it’s not my intention to make you freak out about what’s coming in 2026.
(If you want to know what that is, sign up for this free workshop.)
Yes, the year ahead of us is turbulent.
If your intention was to keep hiding from your Truth and just flow with wherever Life takes you, I’m sorry to say — this isn’t the year.
But also, recognize that the part of you that wants to keep pretending status quo is the best thing since sliced bread — which is a fitting metaphor, because none of them are actually good; they just make us comfortable — is NOT who you actually are.
This is the year when you have no choice but to step into your power, and become the woman you know you were always meant to be. Even if it’s terrifying to your human self.
So buckle up, babe.
And use this New Moon to build your support systems.
A special New Moon
Ok, so usually, a New Moon is a new beginning.
The time to set intentions for the coming Lunar Cycle.
As mentioned, this one isn’t just about the Lunar Cycle, though.
Being the first New Moon of 2026, it’s meant to set the energetic foundation for the entire year ahead… Except, the energy is shifting radically right after this New Moon.
Here’s why:
This whole Capricorn Season, which began with Winter Solstice on December 21st, was heavily emphasized, because we didn’t just have the Sun in Capricorn; for most of January, all of the personal planets — Mercury, Venus and Mars — have been hanging out in Capricorn, too. (I wrote about that here).
The personal planets are how you experience yourself and the world on a very, well — personal level.
Which also means this January holds a lot more significance for how your Life is going to unfold over the next — because usually, January is still a time of deep winter sleep when it comes to the Natural Cycles, but this year, it has a lot more of a hit-the-ground-running sort of vibe.
This New Moon is also special because it’s happening at the very end of the Capricorn Season, just 30ish hours before Aquarius Season begins.
So she’s tired, but also rich with wisdom and mastery she’s accumulated throughout the entire cycle.
She’s a wizened elder.
The Crone.
And an unmistakable threshold between the old and the new.
Not just because of the timeline it’s happening on, but also because of the very obvious shift in energy between Capricorn and Aquarius.
Capricorn Vibes
Capricorn is the old.
Ruled by Saturn — the timekeeper, the lord of karma amongst the planets — Capricorn in its basic expression is about rules, regulations and the systems that uphold them.
It represents the old guard, the traditional way of doing things.
It relishes hard work as the only means of building something lasting, sustainable and meaningful.
It’s about what you do in the world — your career or profession, what you are known and respected for.
It’s earthy, grounded and realistic. Often to a fault.
Even in its higher expression, where Capricorn connects you to your Soul Purpose and helps you build your Legacy, it’s till going to make you put your head down and work for it.
I’m not saying that’s a bad thing. Working hard for what you believe in will give you a sense of accomplishment and help you to actually achieve it.
Still, Capricorn is the old paradigm.
And no matter how we spin it, the old paradigm is crumbling.
On the other hand —
Aquarius is the new.
It’s the disruptive spirit of a collective revolution that brings positive change.
A rebel with a cause. You know, the Age of Aquarius and all of that… Ushering in a world order.
That’s what my next post will be about, but for now, here are a few things to give you context for the Capricorn New Moon at hand:
two and half hours after the New Moon, the Moon herself is moving into Aquarius
Venus — your feminine sense of love, beauty and abundance — is doing so the day before, on the 17th,
The Sun — your potential — and Mercury — your mind — are doing it on the 19th/20th,
and Mars — your masculine assertion and the way you take action — is moving into Aquarius on the 23rd.
So just days after this New Moon, we will have been completely immersed in these new energies on a personal level, while also going through a bunch of collective activations as each of these personal planets makes important aspects with the outer, impersonal planets.
Again, tune back in next week for more on that.
How do you work with this Moon?
I’ve been working with the Moon for years, but this is one that doesn’t feel like I can just sit down, write my intentions in a circle, turn them into my mantras for the next month, and pretend that’s all it takes for the changes I desire to come through.
There is more at play here, and it calls for us to take the old and the new into account, the very practical and that which feel so out there, but will become our lived reality before we know it.
So this is how I’m doing it, milking the last of the old and Capricorn’s pragmatism, weaving in the new I’m sensing, but not yet experiencing:
1. Setting intentions for the practical systems and structures that will keep you grounded when it feels like the new paradigm is pulling the rug from under your feet.
Because it will do that. And when it does… You want to have some nice hardwood floors to land on, not fall into the abyss.
2. Checking the house it’s falling into, and pouring extra attention into the area of your Life that this New Moon directly affects.
Example: for me, it’s my 6th house of work and health, so I’m focusing on the daily routines that support my wellbeing, so I can create efficiently while taking care of my body.
3. Not doing what you’ve always done. Yes, Capricorn loves tried and tested methods. But be honest with yourself: How many of those are still working for you?
If you feel tempted to set an intention for something you know is bound to be nothing but a failed resolution, be kind to yourself: don’t.
Here’s what to keep in mind right now:
With the incoming paradigm shift, even what actually used to work for you likely won’t work anymore in the near future, so go out of the box. Capricorn will hate it, but Aquarius will love it, and your future self will thank you for it.
If you notice new visions, new perspectives and new priorities emerging, honor them in your intentions without getting sentimental about what’s no longer serving its purpose. It’s done its job.
Change is a catalyst for growth. You’re designed to be changing constantly.
Also — and Capricorn will like this — new approaches breed new results.
I’ll see you on the other side of this Moon…
… in the brand new, free workshop I’ve created for you to get a head start on the energy of 2026, and — cliché as it sounds, we all actually want the same thing — to make it the best year of your Life.
That’s still up to your choices and actions. But the workshop will give you the roadmap you need.
